INFERTILITY
Infertility is the failure to conceive regardless of the cause after 1year of regular unprotected sexual intercourse.
It affects almost 15% of reproductive aged couples. It is a major concern in Africa, because of the high premium placed on childbearing.
As a woman's age increases ,the incidence of infertility also increases.
Fecundability should be differentiated from fertility.Fertility is the capacity to reproduce or the state of being fertile while fecundability is the probability of achieving a pregnancy each month and fecundity is the ability to achieve a live birth within one menstrual cycle.

In a society where family planning and professional career development are prioritized, some women postpone childbearing until their 30s and beyond. As a result, these women may have more difficulty conceiving and have an increased risk of Miscarriage.

Types of infertility
infertility refers to couples who have not become pregnant after at least one year of having sex without using birth control methods.

Secondary infertility refers to couples who have been able to get pregnant at least

CAUSES OF INFERTILITY IN FEMALES:
The most common causes of female infertility include problems with Ovulation, damage to fallopian tubes, or uterus (womb) or problems with the cervix.

Ovulation problems maybe caused by the following:
*A hormonal imbalance
*A tumor or cyst
*Eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia
*Alcohol or drug use
*Thyroid gland problems
*Excess weight
*Stress
*Intense exercise that causes a significant loss of body fat
*Extremely brief menstrual cycle
Damage to the fallopian tubes or uterus can be caused by the following:
*Pelvic inflammatory disease
*Endometriosis
*Uterine fibroids
*Scar tissue formation

*Abnormal cervical mucus can also cause infertility. Abnormal cervical mucus can prevent the sperm from reaching the egg or makes it more difficult for sperm to penetrate the egg.

CAN FEMALE INFERTILITY BE PREVENTED?
There is usually nothing that can be done to prevent infertility caused by Genetic problems or illness

However, there are several things that women can be done to decrease the possibility of infertility:
-Take steps to prevent STD(sexual transmitted diseases) by
-Abstinence
-Be faithful
-Condom
Adopt good personal hygiene and health practices
Avoid illicit drugs
Avoid heavy or frequent alcohol use
Avoid smoking

HOW TO MANAGE INFERTILITY IN WOMEN:
1.If you are suffering from infection, get it treated immediately to avoid pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
2.IF you often see blood during sex, or extreme pain during sex visit a hospital fast, it may be endometriosis or fibroid
3.IF you are over weight start exercise now, to avoid future infertility
4.For ladies having difficulties in ovulating, clomid 50mg is the best drug for you to induce ovulation
5.If your infertility is due to spontaneous abortion, as result of cervical incompetence, don't worry, visit a specialist or teaching hospital, you will undergo cervical carclage and God's willing no miscarriage for you again
6.If your infertility is as a result of Fallopian tube blockage, visit a specialist hospital, it will be open and God's willing that is the end of your sorrow

HOW TO MANAGE INFERTILITY DUE TO SEMEN LEAKAGE :
1.Plan pregnancy on your ovulation day by having sex with your hubby on that day or the next
2.Immediately after he ejaculated in you, don't allow him to withdraw immediately, if he can't resist hold him tight for atleast 1 minutes
3.After that, lie down for atleast 15 minute, don't be in a hurry to wake up so that the available sperm can move up to your Fallopian tube to meet the ovum(egg)
4.As you are lying down for 15Minute practice kegel exercise to help push the sperm up to meet the egg for fertilization
After this, God's willing your sorrow will turn to happiness by carrying your child
FOR LADIES WHOSE HUBBY SUFFERS LOW SPERM COUNT:
You should know that it is not your hubby's wish to have low sperm count, hence you should help him/work together to manage this problem.
If your hubby is suffering from oligospermia(low sperm count) you have a great role in preventing him from further damage which will leads to azoospermia(complete absence of sperm production) preventive measures include
1.Must quit or drascally reduce smoking
2.Reduce too much stress
3.Avoid excess alcohol consumption
4.He should avoid exposure to certain radiation and chemicals like pesticides
Food that will help your hubby's sperm count :
1.Take food rich in calcium(milk, bone) and vitamin D(vegetables)
2.Feed your hubby with garlic (enhances sperm motility)
3.Yam intake
4.Banana enhances libido

Drugs that boost sperm count
1.clomid:used by both male and female for fertility. But unlike in ladies, the dose is different in men, your hubby should take 25mg half tablet daily for days awaiting your ovulation day to to have sex for pregnancy. This is because sperm production is everyday unlike in ovulation
2.Zinc supplement are available in the market, they are remarkable in boosting sperm production

After after practicing all of the above with your hubby, on the day of ovulation when you are to have sex in preparation for pregnancy:

1.After ejaculating in you, don't allow him to withdraw immediately, he should lie on your body for some time to allow movement of the semen
2.After withdrawal, you should also stay lying down for atleast 15minute
3.As you are lying down, practice kegel exercise to help push the available sperm to go and meet the ovum
Thereafter, you go and meet your lord(prayers) God's willing, your sorrow will turn to happiness
Available laboratory aids include :
1.Artificial insemination of the matured fertile sperm cells from your hubby's ejaculate,
2.in-vitro fertilization (though very expensive)
